Description
I shot this reference photo on October 30th during Hurricane Sandy. The snow was melting faster than I could shoot. But I have fond memories of driving around with my thermos of coffee enjoying the seasons first snow. Painting on 200# CP Waterford Saunders with Holbein pigments.

Sandra what a beautiful painting. It is amazing!!! I will share this in my art page. I like warm and brown colors very much. You have many great elements in this painting. A wide space with a path in it that takes us to the barns which are in the golden portion of the frame. Expressive strokes of dry brush that makes the paper see through on the right side. It is very artistic that you have left the paper see through there. The sky is beautiful, smooth with little touch of shades for loose clouds so that it won't take attention from the barns and most important is the right amount of local contrasts they you have created around the barns. The dark trees on the left background side, the dark bushes on the left at the dark shades of the barns and tree branches are just enough to create distributed local contrasts which is I believe one of the most powerful elements in a painting. Congratulations!!
